If you\u2019ve ever utilized the \u201cWebinar\u201d module on Quickchannel, you know it offers an incredibly straightforward way to manage live video production right from your browser. This includes inviting participants, engaging in chat, polling the audience, and sharing your screen or PowerPoint presentation. But did you know that integrating a virtual camera can take your webinars to the next level?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A virtual camera acts like an additional camera on your computer, enabling you to send video signals that are captured by the Webinar module. With this setup, you can display videos to your audience, stream from your camera, apply effects like chroma key or green screen, add filters, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this tutorial, we\u2019ll show you how to set this up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting Up a Virtual Camera<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To create a virtual camera, you\u2019ll need software that supports this function, such as OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), which is free and available for PC, MAC, and LINUX or Wirecast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Download the application from https:\/\/obsproject.com\/, install it on your computer, and launch the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

2. Before activating the virtual camera, let\u2019s create a couple of scenes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   \u2013 In Scene 1, connect your camera and apply a chroma key effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   \u2013 In Scene 2, set up a video playback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. In Scene 1, navigate to \u201cSources\u201d and add your camera by clicking the + sign and selecting \u201cVideo Capture Device\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Name it, for example, \u2018Webcam\u2019, and click OK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

   \u2013 Under \u201cDevice\u201d, select the camera you\u2019ve connected to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   \u2013 Under \u201cPreset\u201d, choose the resolution you want to use based on your camera\u2019s specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. To select a background, add another \u201cSource\u201d by clicking + and selecting \u201cImage\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Name it, then find and select the image file on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

 \u2013 Adjust the image to the desired size<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

and drag it below the camera layer in your scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

5. Apply the Chroma Key effect using the green screen by right-clicking, selecting \u201cFilters\u201d,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

and then adding a Chroma Key filter in \u201cEffect Filters\u201d box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Choose your key color (green, blue, magenta, or custom) and adjust the settings until you\u2019re satisfied with the overlay, then close the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Launching the Virtual Camera<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Start the virtual camera by pressing the \u201cStart Virtual Camera\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

2. Go to Quickchannel, create a \u201cWebinar\u201d program, and enter. For the camera, select \u201cOBS Virtual Camera\u201d, and for the microphone, choose the audio input you\u2019ll be using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And just like that, your virtual camera is now running with your Webinar on Quickchannel. Everything you do in OBS will be displayed during your webinar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting Up Scene 2 for Video Playback<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. In \u201cScenes\u201d, add your second scene by clicking +.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

2. In \u201cSources\u201d, add a \u201cMedia Source\u201d,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

name it, and select the video file you want to stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If you want the video to loop, select \u201cLoop\u201d. If you want the video to start playing as soon as the scene becomes active, leave the option checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Handling Audio for Video Playback<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To ensure the audio from your video is transmitted during your live session, additional steps are necessary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Install a virtual audio device like VB-Cable Virtual Audio (https:\/\/vb-audio.com\/Cable\/<\/a>) device or Loopback (https:\/\/rogueamoeba.com\/loopback\/<\/a>) (I recommend Loopback for its robust features, although it is paid software).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Once installed, in OBS, go to Settings,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

then AUDIO, and under \u201cAdvanced\u201d, \u201cMonitoring Device\u201d, select \u201cLoopback Audio\u201d and click OK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

3. Under the Audio mixer, click the gear icon on the audio track of your video file, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

select \u201cMonitor and Output\u201d under \u201cAudio Monitoring\u201d, and close the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

4. In Quickchannel, within your webinar, switch the audio input to \u201cLoopback Audio\u201d. Your video\u2019s audio will now be broadcast live along with the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
